Introduction : –There are 24 districts in the province of Jharkhand. Gumla is also one of them. The district headquarters is placed in the town of Gumla. Approx two hundreds year ago when people used to exchange the goods through the way of interchange method it was a place for gathering the populace from hinterland. Gumla is combination of two words first one is Gaw and second one is Mela. Gaw means to say cow and Mela is fair. That’s why Gulma known is as Gaw-mela and gradually it change into Gumla itself. It is said that it a place where the God of Hindu Hanuman had taken nativity. A few km away from town there is a temple on Gumla Ghaghra road which reminds us the immortal tale of Ramayana.
