Introduction: – Banka District is located just near the border of Jharkhand state. Therefore, the atmosphere of this district is like the atmosphere of Jharkhand State. The most famous place of this district is Mandhar hill which is placed about eighteen km away from Banka town at Bounsi Block. The other attraction of this block is the popular fair Bounsi Mela. It is conducted every year in the month of January. The fair starts on the eve of Makar Sankranti and runs continuously for one month.
Some parts of this district are within the forest. Its name is Bounsi Kotoriya Forest
range. Commonly in this forest monkeys, jackals, bears, lions, elephants, and the leopard can be seen. Chanan and Barua rivers pass through Banka. Through these channels water from Chanan and Barua rivers passes. This is helpful in the production of vegetable, grain, and fruits.
